3 c. all purpose flour

1 1/2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp salt, optional

1 c. butter plus one pat for love

3/4 c. sugar

3/4 c. brown sugar, packed

1 tsp vanilla

2 large eggs

2 - 12oz. packages of chocolate chips

1 c. chopped nuts, optional

 

(the chocolate chips & nuts can be replaced with 1 1/2 c. chunky peanut butter or to taste to make a double peanut butter cookie. chips and nuts can also be replaced with any other flavor)

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees.

In small bowl mix flour and soda.

In large bowl beat together butter, sugars, vanilla till creamy.

Add eggs one at time, mix well.

Slowly add flour and mix till smooth and well.

Fold in chips & nuts (use mixer when adding peanut butter to be sure to get it mixed in well, then fold chips or nuts if adding.)

drop in spoonfuls onto cookie sheet, (grease if they stick or use a non stick cookie sheet)

Bake for 9-12 minutes till golden brown, let cool on wire rack.

can make 2-3 dozen or more, depending on spoonful sizes.
